Achiuwa, Edwards Named to NCJAA All-America Team - Press Release

BUFFALO, N.Y. – April 5 – Erie Community College’s God’s Gift Achiuwa (Port Harcourt, River States, Nigeria/Sure Foundation) and Tyshawn Edwards (Buffalo/Grover Cleveland) were chosen to the NJCAA Division II men’s basketball team.
The 6-foot-9 Achiuwa was a first-team selection while the 6-foot-5 Edwards was chosen to the third team.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - April 5 - Erie Community College sophomore Ted Chojecki is one of 24 bowlers who will compete at 2011 United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championships May 23-24 at AMF Euless Lanes in Euless, Texas. Chojecki qualified at the Allentown, Pa., sectional qualifier.

BUFFALO – April 5 – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) recently announced Erie Community College will be the host institution for the 2013 and 2014 NJCAA Bowling Championships. ECC was previously named the host school for the 2012 championships.

DANVILLE, Ill. – March 19 – The Erie Community College men’s basketball team finished in fourth place at the 2011 NJCAA Division II National Tournament after falling 102-98 in overtime to Triton (Ill.) Community College Saturday in the third-place game at Danville Area Community College.
The fourth-place finish is the highest finish for the Kats in four trips to the NJCAA Division II tourney. ECC finishes the season 28-4.

DANVILLE, Ill. – March 18 – Shooting woes caught up to the Erie Community College men’s basketball team Friday night in a 90-72 loss to Lincoln (Ill.) College at the NJCAA Division II Tournament at Danville Area Community College. Lincoln, the tournament’s third seed, is the defending national champion and is now 27-7.

DANVILLE, Ill. - March 17 - God's Gift Achiuwa (Port Harcourt, River States, Nigeria) scored on an offensive rebound with 9.5 seconds left as the Erie Community College men's basketball team recorded a 76-75 win over Louisburg (N.C.) College Thursday night in the NJCAA Division II Tournament at Danville Area Community College. ECC improves to 28-2 while Louisburg, the tournament’s second seed, falls to 32-2.

DANVILLE, Ill. - March 16 - Freshman guard Sam Hattin (Hamilton, Ont./Our Savior) equaled his career high with 22 points to lead the Erie Community College men's basketball team to an 85-77 win over Parkland (Ill.) College Wednesday in the first round of the NJCAA Division II Tournament at Danville Area Community College. Hattin also scored 22 points against Monroe Community College Feb. 8, 2011.

 BUFFALO, N.Y. – March 14 – The Erie Community College men’s basketball team will play Parkland (Ill.) College Wednesday at noon (Eastern) in the first round of the NJCAA Division II Tournament in Danville, Ill. The contest is the first of five games Wednesday. The tournament opens Tuesday with six games.

Forward Christian MacAuley fully controlled the paint with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks for the St. Mary's College Seahawks as they ended the Buffalo State men's basketball season last night, 85-74 in the third round of the Division III National Championship tournament.  Buff State senior forward Glenroy Carr was much less effective as he was in the Bengals' previous games, playing only 15 minutes of the game and registering 4 points and 4 rebounds.
