BUFFALO, N.Y. – June 3 – Erie Community College sophomore Ryan Kaufman (Amherst, N.Y.) was chosen as a third-team selection to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division men’s at-large team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Kaufman, a defenseman on the ECC hockey team, carries a 3.67 grade-point average while majoring in criminal justice.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – May 28 – The Erie Community College hockey team has announced its upcoming 2013-14 schedule. The Kats, who have qualified for the past five NJCAA Championships, also plays members of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). ECC will announce additions to its schedule at a later date. The Kats have placed four players on the NJCAA All-America teams the past three seasons.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - May 16 - Erie Community College sophomore Ryan Kaufman (Amherst, N.Y.) has been named to the 2012-13 Capital One Academic All-District ® Men’s At-Large District I first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. As a first-team selection, Kaufman is now eligible to be selected as a Capital One Academic All-America recipient.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - April 18 - Eric Mueller, a sophomore forward on the Erie Community College hockey team, was named a second-team selection to the NJCAA All-America team.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Feb. 23 - The Erie Community College hockey team's season ended Saturday with an 8-1 loss to top-ranked Monroe CC in the NJCAA Championships, held at The Sports Centre.
Monroe CC (19-7), the defending national champion, used four first-period goals and had a 5-0 lead after two periods. Sophomore forward Ryan Rogalski (Lancaster, N.Y.) scored the Kats' lone goal, the first tally of the third period.
ECC finishes the season with a 13-8 record.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Feb. 21 - Matt Shumate, a freshman forward on the Erie Community College hockey team, has been chosen to the All-Region III Rookie Team, announced today by the league.
Shumate (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) has recorded 36 points (17 goals/19 assists) in 20 games this season.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Feb. 12 - The Erie Community College hockey program has received word it has been awarded a berth in the upcoming NJCAA Championships, held Feb. 23-24 at the Sports Centre at MCC in Rochester, N.Y.
The Kats, who are 12-7 overall and ranked fourth in the nation, will take on Monroe CC, the nation's top-ranked team and defending national champions, at 1 p.m. on Feb. 23. The Kats defeated Monroe CC to win the 2011 NJCAA national title.
CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. - Feb. 9 - Erie Community College hockey coach Gary Rost won his 125th game Saturday afternoon as the fourth-ranked Kats defeated fifth-ranked Broome CC, 4-1, at the Cheektowaga Rec Center.
ECC, now 12-7, was led by sophomore forward Robert Finn (Amherst, N.Y.) who recorded a goal and an assist, and sophomore forward Eric Mueller (Hamburg, N.Y.) who recorded two assists.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Feb. 6 - The fourth-ranked Erie Community College hockey team suffered a 9-1 loss to top-ranked Monroe CC Tuesday night at the Sports Centre at MCC.
Freshman forward Corey Kinmartin (West Seneca, N.Y.) scored for the Kats in the third period. Sophomore forward Robert Finn (Amherst, N.Y.) was credited with the assist.
Sophomore goaltender Shane Mullen (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Maryvale) made 38 saves.
ECC will play fifth-ranked Broome CC at 3:20 p.m. Saturday at the Cheektowaga Rec Center.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Jan. 31 - The Erie Community College hockey team, winners of its last three games, remained in fourth place in the NJCAA rankings.
The Kats, 11-6 overall, picked up a 6-5 win over third-ranked Hudson Valley CC in their last contest. ECC's upcoming game against Mohawk Valley CC on Saturday has been canceled.
ECC will play top-ranked Monroe CC Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Sports Centre in Rochester.
