Posted June 26th, 2011 9:32pm

BUFFALO, N.Y. (June 27) – The Erie Community College athletics department finished fifth in the scholarship division in the 2010-11 National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup Standings. The Kats, who had national champions in hockey and men’s bowling, finished with 110 points.
Rankings in the NATYCAA Cup are formulated by awarding NJCAA institutions with points based on competition at NJCAA Championship events. A first-place finish is worth 20 points; second place is worth 19 points; etc. The top five best finishes from each school qualify for points in the standings. Iowa Central Community College won with 169 points.
“Following this 2010-2011 athletic year, our sport teams, coaches and student-athletes have enjoyed the rewards of their hard work and sacrifices, both academically and athletically,” said Peter Jerebko, ECC athletics director. “This Top 5 finish in the scholarship division further identifies the outstanding type of people ECC has within the athletics department and our challenge is to continue the success the Kats have enjoyed for so many years.”
The top three programs in each division received a cash award for their institution’s general scholarship fund in the amount of $2,500 for first place and $1,000 for second and third place. The 2010-2011 academic year marks the eighth year of the NATYCAA Awards Program. NATYCAA is the national organization of all two-year athletic administrators from the United States.
